STRATEGIC OUTLOOK ON ENERGY IN THE BALTIC REGION

Location: Kempinski Hotel Cathedral Square, Universiteto str. 14, Vilnius Working language: English Turbulent geopolitical changes have recently taken place in our eastern neighbourhood. These unsettling events have further confirmed the need for energy independence of the region. Lithuania has made a remarkable achievement in this regard by successfully launching LNG terminal at Klaipeda to secure gas supplies from alternative sources. Nevertheless, several important challenges remain.
Energy Forum 2015 will focus on energy strategies chosen by the countries in the region in order to complete missing interconnections and guarantee good functioning of electricity and gas markets. Policy makers and experts from Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Poland and United Kingdom will provide comprehensive update on the latest developments also in the regional cooperation. The program of the Energy Forum is divided into following sessions: · Ensuring Energy Security in Changing Geopolitical Context · Latest Energy Trends in the Baltic Region 1st Session – Electricity and Renewable Energy 2nd Session – Gas Market Forum is dedicated to decision makers in the public and private sector who wish to get a strategic outlook on energy issues in the Baltic region. Event is organised by VARUL in co-operation with the Estonian Chamber of Commerce in Lithuania. General partner of the forum is Estonian Embassy in Vilnius.
